1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create or use a Plane Plans account, we may collect your email address, display name, and other basic profile information you choose to provide.

You may sign in using Google or by requesting a one-time verification code by email. If you sign in with Google, we receive information made available through Google that is necessary to authenticate your account, such as your email address and basic profile information. We do not receive your Google password.

If you sign in by email, we send a temporary verification code to the email address you provide. These codes expire and are used to authenticate access to your account.

Trip information

When you create or participate in a trip, we may collect information you or other members of the group provide, including:

• trip destination and departure airport;
• proposed travel windows and trip length;
• dates on which participants indicate they are unavailable;
• votes or preferences for proposed travel dates;
• trip membership and participation information; and
• other information you provide while using trip-planning features.

Some of this information is intended to be shared with other participants in the same trip. For example, your name, availability information, or voting activity may be displayed to members of your travel group where necessary to provide the group-planning features.

Technical and usage information

When you use Plane Plans, our servers and service providers may automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages requested, timestamps, and information necessary for security and operation of the service.

When Google Analytics is enabled, we use it to understand how visitors use Plane Plans. On public pages, Google Analytics may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device information, and cookie or similar identifiers. We may also send limited usage events to Google Analytics from our servers, such as when a user creates or joins a trip, completes availability or voting, shares a trip invitation, or finalizes trip dates. We do not intentionally send private trip URLs, trip names, email addresses, or other trip content to Google Analytics.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• create, authenticate, and maintain your account;
• provide Plane Plans' group travel planning features;
• allow trip organizers and participants to coordinate availability and vote on travel dates;
• remember and display your trips;
• send authentication codes and service-related communications;
• protect accounts and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
• diagnose technical problems and improve the service;
• analyze website traffic and feature usage so we can understand and improve Plane Plans; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Information Shared With Your Travel Group

Plane Plans is designed for collaborative planning. Information you submit to a trip may therefore be visible to other people participating in that trip.

Depending on the feature, this may include your display name, availability selections, votes, or other trip-related information.

You should only join or share a Plane Plans trip with people with whom you are comfortable sharing information relevant to planning that trip.

4. Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to operate Plane Plans. These providers may process information on our behalf when necessary to provide their services.

Google authentication

If you choose “Continue with Google,” Google provides authentication services and may provide basic account information to Plane Plans.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use Plane Plans and how features are used. Google Analytics is loaded in the browser on public pages and may receive information such as page views, device and browser information, approximate location, and cookie or similar identifiers.

Plane Plans may also send limited product-usage events to Google Analytics from our servers. These events are designed to measure actions such as account creation, trip creation, trip participation, availability and voting completion, invitation sharing, and trip finalization. We configure these events to use generic page information rather than private trip URLs or trip content.

Email delivery

We use Mailgun to deliver transactional emails, including one-time sign-in codes. Information necessary to deliver those messages, such as your email address, is provided to our email service provider.

Hosting and infrastructure

Hosting, database, security, monitoring, or other infrastructure providers may process information as necessary to operate Plane Plans.

These companies process information according to their own agreements, privacy policies, and applicable law.

5. Flight and Other External Links

Plane Plans may provide links to third-party services, such as flight search or booking websites.

If you follow one of these links, you are leaving Plane Plans. Information you provide to the third-party service is governed by that service's privacy policy, not this Privacy Policy.

In the future, some links may be referral or affiliate links, which means Plane Plans may receive compensation if you make a purchase or booking after following the link. If we introduce such relationships, we will provide appropriate disclosures.

6. Cookies and Sessions

Plane Plans uses cookies or similar browser technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in, maintain your session, protect the security of the service, and remember certain settings.

We also use analytics technologies to measure visits and interactions with the service. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers on public pages, and Plane Plans may maintain an anonymous first-party identifier to associate limited server-side analytics events. Analytics identifiers are not required to create an account or plan a trip.

You can block or delete cookies using your browser settings. Blocking cookies needed for account sessions may prevent sign-in or affect other features. Depending on where you live, applicable law may require us to request consent before using non-essential analytics cookies.

7. How Long We Keep Information

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Plane Plans, maintain your account and trips, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the security and integrity of the service.

Temporary authentication information, such as one-time login codes, is designed to expire after a short period.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete or anonymize it, subject to legal, security, backup, and operational requirements.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

For example, Plane Plans supports authentication through Google and temporary email verification codes rather than requiring users to provide a password through our passwordless sign-in experience.

However, no internet service or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You may be able to review or update certain account information through Plane Plans.

You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account. Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may provide additional rights regarding your personal information.

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, as described in Section 6 above. Browser settings may affect your ability to stay signed in or use certain features.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

10. Children's Privacy

Plane Plans is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Plane Plans changes.

When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above. If changes materially affect how we use personal information, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
